Class Descriptions

Basics
All levels are welcome to experience this class that focuses on breathing and fundamental postures. This slower paced class requires no prior yoga experience.

Bliss
This centered approach to asana practice incorporates long held simple, gentle and restorative seated and floor postures bringing about increased range of motion and vitality in the hips, shoulders and spine. We will also explore yoga's deeper practices, including meditation and breathing techniques that quiet the mind and restore and renew the often overtaxed nervous system and body. Wonderful for all yoga students!

Flow
A vinyasa style class for the experienced student. Flow requires students to use the breath to move through a rigorous series of postures. Challenging back-bends, inversions, and standing and seated postures are integrated to create seamless motion and to encourage breath awareness.

Jivamukti Yoga
The name Jivamukti means "liberation while living." It is a vigorously physical and intellectually stimulating practice combined with an equally strong foundation in the ancient spiritual traditions of Yoga paired with hip hop music, humor and every day life experiences that can be aligned and resolved with yogic philosophical teachings.

"If a teacher doesn't bring in the spiritual element to a class, it cheats the student and dumbs down the teaching."—David Life (New York Post)

Kid's Yoga
This class is an introduction to yoga for children age five to ten years. Yoga is a fun way to get children involved in moving their bodies while calming and centering their minds. Through strengthening postures to teach focus and concentration, stories, games, music and kid-friendly meditation to teach them about living lovingly in the world, this yoga class helps children build peace from the inside and in the world they live in. Twenty percent of their class fee goes to Pennies for Peace, which helps build schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Kids Yoga is offered the 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month.

Kundalini
An ancient science of yoga incorporating specific exercises, breathing techniques, music, and meditations. Call Har Sharan for more info at 404-8199.

Lunar Flow
A dynamic class that links breath with movement through an intelligent unfolding sequence of postures. Basic postures are introduced then evolved through multidimensional sequencing so that each student can practice to his/her unique edge. This evening class emphasizes the lunar qualities of yoga - calm, fluid, connected - in a meditative, slower-paced rhythm.

Multi-Level
This class focuses on the balance between precision and movement. Fundamental postures are presented in order to expand strength, stamina, and flexibility. Focus is on moving through a series of poses with structural awareness and fluidity. All levels welcome.

Restorative
Restorative yoga offers a wide array of benefits for all students. The support of bolsters, blankets, straps, and other props allow one to move into a practice of effortless ease and deep stillness. Restorative yoga is a gateway to deep relaxation, healing and the cultivation of mindfulness. These techniques will help you ease stress and live well! Check the Events & Classes page for dates and times.

Yin
Yin yoga emphasizes long-held, passive stretching to enhance flexibility in the connective tissues that form our joints. Conducted mainly on the floor with props, quiet music and inspirational readings, the intention is to stimulate circulation in less flexible areas such as the lower back, hips, shoulders and sacrum. This deep, meditative practice complements all other activity, especially the more active (Yang) styles of yoga. Appropriate for all levels of students. Check the Events & Classes page for dates and times.

Yoga over 50
Reverse the aging process as you restore the strength, flexibility, ease of motion and natural wellness that is your birthright... whether eight or eighty. Experience traditional hatha yoga and breathing techniques (modified as needed) to renew body and mind and to expand your vitality.
